Press Release
New Century Education Corporation
to Distribute Award Winning and Adopted
Science and
Social Studies Curriculum
(October,
2002, Piscataway, New Jersey) New Century Education Corporation is pleased to announce
that it has reached an agreement to distribute Decision Development
Corporation’s award winning Science 2000+
curriculum for grades 6, 7, and 8. New
Century will also distribute Decision Development’s Social Studies 2000+ and Ancient
World 2000+, which provide a complete K-9 social studies curriculum.
Science 2000+ was
developed with funding and direction from the California Department of
Education and the National Science Foundation and has since been adopted as an
option to textbooks in 12 states. Science 2000+ is the only fully
conforming Texas middle school curriculum rated “Promising” by the U.S.
Department of Education. Other
contributors to the design and development of the curriculum software include
the National Geographic Society, UC Irvine, UC Davis, Pac Bell, IBM and Apple
Computer.
Social Studies 2000+ and Ancient World 2000+ were developed with
funding awarded from the Education Departments of Florida and California. Content was developed in collaboration with
the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, New York City; the Museum of Fine Arts,
Boston; Getty Museum, Pasadena; and the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. Social
Studies 2000+ is a full K-8 social studies curriculum, which correlates
with NCSS concepts and standards and with those of many states. Ancient
World 2000+ is an alternative social studies curriculum for Middle School
and High School Students covering Human Prehistory through the fall of the
Roman Empire. Rich content from the
many museums provides the student with an exciting learning adventure through
ancient times and a discovery of influences that shaped today’s world. Both Social
Studies 2000+ and Ancient World 2000+
have been adopted in several states, including California, Texas and Florida.
Using high
quality interactive software and research links to designated websites, these
curricula teach via active student involvement and exploration more than rote
memorization of facts. The high quality
of instruction and pedagogical approach have generated many awards from
institutional reviewers. These products
can be used as core curriculum or as supplemental instruction to textbooks.
New Century is pleased to bring these additional high quality offerings
to its customers. Schools can now
leverage their existing IT infrastructure by adding science and social studies
to the New Century Math, Reading, Writing and Language Arts curricula.
